High quality definition stands for video that's having a higher resolution than the traditional video. While the traditional video that is known by man before is only having two or four hundreds of pixels for every frame it has, this High definition format has almost two millions pixels for each frame. It's about five times the normal video that is known as the standard definition. A frame on video is a picture that the camera is capturing. The camera usually catches 24 pictures for one second.

The term of high quality definition is originated from the 1930s video. But it was not called as high quality definition because the HDTV has existed on that day. Instead, it was higher than the older system that is available that day. You will never found any difference at all if a HD video is shown on the standard TV. After all, the standard TV will cut the high definition video on its side because of the ratio used on the video and the ratio that the standard television could support aren't really compatible.

The digital television could maximize the capabilities of the HDTV greatly; you will have a better experience of watching movies or TV.
